What a Trainer Can Do for You

There's a reason movie stars and financial moguls use personal trainers: Working with a trainer is one of the fastest, easiest, most successful ways to improve your health and fitness. In fact, personal training has proved so effective it has spread well beyond the realm of the rich and famous. Today, personal trainers are used by people at all fitness, age and economic levels - and from all over the world - to help make lifestyle changes those people couldn't achieve by themselves.

How do you know if hiring a personal trainer is the right choice for you? Consider the following things a personal trainer can help you do:

  1. Improve Your Overall Fitness. IDEA surveys show the primary reason people hire personal trainers is to get professional assistance to improve strength, flexibility, endurance, posture, balance, coordination and cardiovascular health. A trainer will monitor your progress and fine-tune your program as you go, helping you work your way off plateaus.
  2. Reach or Maintain a Healthy Weight. Body fat reduction, weight reduction or management, body shaping and toning can all be achieved with the aid of a qualified trainer who can help you set realistic goals and determine safe strategies, all while providing the encouragement you need.
  3. Learn to Stick to It. Sticking with well-intentioned plans is one of the biggest challenges exercisers face. Qualified personal trainers can provide motivation for developing a lifestyle that places a high priority on health and activity. A trainer can help you brainstorm ways to overcome your biggest obstacles to exercise.
  4. Focus on Your Unique Health Concerns. IDEA surveys show that 50 percent of personal trainers' clients have special medical need, such as arthritis, diabetes or obesity. A personal trainer can help you with these or other issues, including low-back pain, rehabilitation from injury and pre/postnatal training. Your trainer can work with your physician, physical therapist or other health care provider to plan a safe, efficient program that will speed your recovery or enable you to reach your health goals.
  5. Find the Right Way to Work Out. You will learn the correct way to use equipment, and appropriate form and technique for cardiovascular work and free-weight training.
  6. Stop Wasting Time. Get maximum results in minimum time with a program designed specifically for you. Workouts that use your strengths and improve on your weaknesses are efficient and effective.
  7. Learn New Skills. Want to improve your strength and flexibility for tennis, skiing or golfing? An individualized program can improve your overall conditioning and develop the specific skills you need.
  8. Enhance Your Mind, Body and Spirit. A personal trainer can act as a doorway to new personal growth experiences. Many trainers provide mind-body activities, such as yoga or tai chi sessions. Your trainer may help you uncover new insights about yourself or find potential you didn't realize you had.
  9. Benefit from the Buddy System. What could be better than making a commitment to regularly meet with someone who will provide you with individualized attention and support?
  10. Take Charge of Your Program, and Do It YOUR Way. With the right trainer, you can find the exercise program that works best for you. Are you more comfortable with a demanding program or a gentler approach? Would you like to train at home or at work, at a club or in a trainer's facility? How many times per week or month do you want to meet your trainer, and for how long? Carefully choosing a personal trainer enables you to select the type of guidance that will benefit you. You can get fit and healthy your way and take ultimate responsibility for your own health.

What Reiki-Hypnotherapy Can Do for You

Hypnotherapy can be used in many ways, and is highly effective for reaching many goals: from smoking cessation to integrating new and healthy habits, from weight loss to muscle gain, from lowering your cholesterol to increasing your memory and recall capacity, and even removing dis-ease.

Hypnosis is a state of mind(s), where the conscious mind becomes quiet and the subconscious is set free. While in this trance-like state, the unconscious mind is highly receptive to different perceptions, thoughts and behavior; thus, it is an ideal state for the use of imagery and positive suggestion to bring about change.

It is also an ideal time to implement other therapeutic processes, namely, Reiki, since the whole system is already primed for change, for healing.

Reiki is Japanese for Universal Life Force, or the energy inherent to all creation.

As an ancient healing art and science, Reiki is a non-manipulative technique that helps to stimulate immune system function and maximize an individual's innate healing potential by treating the whole person – emotionally, physically, mentally and spiritually – through the transmission of that universal life energy. This process has been used for centuries to balance and strengthen the body’s energy centers, or Chakras.

The profoundly relaxing effects associated with Reiki make it an effective treatment for anxiety, stress, and the management of difficult emotions and addictions. As there are no contraindications, it complements any form of medical treatment.

Reiki uses specific symbols and hand positions on or above parts of the body that correspond to the major energy centers and organs, such as the heart or adrenal glands. The purpose of Reiki is to increase the self-healing power inherent in all, to directly connect an individual to the universal source, the divine. Therefore, it can be used to improve meditation and prayer techniques as well. It is also useful for treating pets and plants, blessing charms or clearing negative energy.

What to expect:

I implement prerecorded hypnotherapy treatments while conducting a Reiki session for optimum benefit.* The recordings utilize music with a therapeutic rhythm that induces theta brainwaves (typically produced by the brain just before falling into deep sleep).

The Reiki energy usually feels like a warm radiance over your skin, which leaves you feeling relaxed and refreshed, with a sense of peace and security. There are no special requirements or limitations to receiving this treatment. Reiki is also highly intuitive – if you don’t know exactly what ails you, the healing energy will find its path to aid you.

Coupled with the altered state of consciousness that you may experience due to the prerecorded hypnotherapy session, you may feel sleepy or disconnected during and/or after a session, though some are energized after a session. You will be asked to drink plenty of water and ensure appropriate rest after a treatment as the process of removing dis-ease and emotional trauma can be quite taxing to your system.

Reiki can also be sent long distance for those who cannot be present and also across time (past or future, this life or another) with the use of the Absentee Symbol of the Usui Reiki System.

*Reiki sessions are also available without the use of hypnosis, and vice versa. And, you may order the hypno-meditations used during the Reiki-Hypnotherapy sessions on CD (or you can download the recordings and start today!) by visiting our partner site, Sage & Wisdom, to order your CDs or mp3s now.
